Brian Cameron – Head Junior / Age Group Coach Brian Cameron joins Seacoast Swimming Association with nineteen years of coaching experience. He believes in coaching with an emphasis on strong stroke technique, and he also feels that all athletes should excel in the classroom as well as in the pool. Another of his goals is to develop swimmers that will want to swim into and beyond college, and he hopes to promote this attitude in his coaching. Brian began his coaching career with the Old Colony YMCA. He spent nine years there, serving as an assistant for a year and a head coach for eight years. After his time there, Brian spent eight years as a coach with the YMCA of the North Shore Sharks. His achievements there were numerous, including eighteen YMCA All-Americans, 108 swims at the All-American level, five USA Swimming Junior National qualifiers, two USA swimming National qualifiers and two second place team finishes at the NE Age Group Championship Meet. In the fall of 2007, Brian began working as a coach for the Bay and Ocean State Squids. While there he worked primarily with the age group program, writing workouts and coordinating dryland training. His swimmers qualified for and placed at the NE 12 and under Championships, the CT Senior Championships and the NE Open Championships. Brian has also spent seven years coaching high school swimming in Massachusetts. From 2000 to 2003 he coached the Bishop Fenwick Crusaders to a record of 23 - 1, and also led them to three conference championships and a second place finish at the MIAA State Championships. From 2003 to 2007 he coached the Beverly Panthers to a record of 31 - 2, leading them to two conference championships, two second place finishes at the MIAA State Championships and a State Championship in 2005. Over the course of his high school coaching career, Brian has developed 24 Boston Globe All-Scholastic Swimmers. Brian has spent the past year serving as the head coach and aquatics director for the St. Thomas Stingrays in the US Virgin Islands. In his brief time with the team he coached two swimmers to four new Virgin Island records, a first for the team. Brian is excited to be returning to coaching in Massachusetts, and he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our coaching staff and swimmers. When he is not at the pool, Brian enjoys following the Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics. He also likes to read and listen to music. Assistant Coaches Kate Farrington – Junior Group Kate began swimming at age 5 at Wannamoisett CC... the WIDTH of the pool... and swam competitively for the Seekonk Dolphins under Ellis Mayers for 10 years. She played field hockey in college, received a BS in biology, and spent the next 15 years working as a scientist in biotechnology and raising three daughters. She returned to competitive swimming in 1994, swimming for the East Providence Masters. She began coaching in 1995 for Grist Mill Swimming under Ellis Mayers, and became head coach upon his retirement in 1998. She joined the coaching staff of Seacoast Swimming in 1999 as an age group coach and has had the opportunity to help develop age group swimmers into senior level swimmers and watch them become top New England and National level swimmers. In 2007, she became the head coach for the Seekonk High School boys varsity swim team and coached 60% of the team to state qualifying times including the fastest freshman in the 500 freestyle. Caitlin Grant – Senior / Age Group II Caitlin is entering her second season as a coach with Seacoast Swimming. Caitlin graduated from Colgate University in 2008 with a degree in English and Educational Studies and is currently working on her MAT in secondary English at Brown University. Caitlin was a member of the Colgate University Varsity Swim Team for four years and helped the team to win its first ever Patriot League Championship in February of 2008. As a member of the Raider swim team Caitlin held Colgate All-Time Top Ten Performances in the 50 Free, 100 Fly and 200 Fly. She was a Patriot League Championship Finalist in the 50 free, 100 fly and 200 fly and was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll in her junior and senior year . Caitlin was the recipient of Colgate’s Maroon & White Award at the conclusion of her Senior year. Prior to her time at Colgate, Caitlin swam for the Seekonk High School varsity team. She won both team and individual Conference and Sectional titles over her four years, and was consistently at the top of the Massachusetts State Meet. She still holds Seekonk High School records in the 100 backstroke, 200 medley relay, 200 free relay and 400 free relay. As a senior she was named to the Boston Herald and Boston Globe All-Scholastic Teams. Caitlin also swam for Seacoast Swimming for thirteen years, becoming the first Seacoast - Seekonk swimmer to swim at United States Swimming Nationals when she competed on a relay in the summer of 2005. She was a three time United States Swimming Scholastic All American and also served as New England Swimming’s athlete representative for two years. Jamie Pascale – Age Group 2 / Pods Jamie brings fifteen years of competitive swimming experience to our staff. As a private swim instructor, she has enjoyed exceptional success over the past fourteen years. Prior to joining Seacoast, Jamie coached for the Bay and Ocean State Squids for eight years. Susan Pascale – Pods Entering her 18th year as a swim instructor and coach, Susan has taught thousands of Rhode Islanders to swim through various local swim programs. Her experience, knowledge, and positive encouragement have allowed many children to enjoy a career in swimming. Susan currently serves as the director of the Pods learn to swim program, and before that Susan was an entry level swim coach for the Bay & Ocean State Squids from 1996-2007. During that time she attended several ASCA clinics and received two “New England Age Group Coach of the Year” awards from New England Swimming. Her program was the starting point for many top New England swimmers and national level swimmers. In 2007, she joined the United States Swim School Association and in 2008 became certified in their infant/toddler program. Susan is a 1997 graduate of the University of Rhode Island, where she received her BS in Dental Hygiene. She currently is a registered dental hygienist and has been practicing at the office of Drs. Rubinstein & Ducoff in Providence, RI for the past 11 years. She and her husband Marc reside in Seekonk with their daughter Jillian. Chelsea Saunders – Age Group 3 Chelsea is entering her third year coaching with Seacoast. As a swimmer, she swam for Seacoast for ten years and was a member of the Seekonk High School girls varsity swim team for four years, serving her senior year as a captain. Chelsea also currently serves as a volunteer for the Special Olympics swim team. Chelsea is attending Rhode Island College where she is majoring in English and Elementary Education.
